Advanced Reading Skills

Our founder, Mr Janaka Srimal and a senior member, Shrimal Iresh were privileged to attend the Advance Reading Skills Workshop held in June this year at Hotel Taj Samudra. The workshop was conducted by Mr Raymond Fernando of New Zealand, and was also attended by a few executives from some leading companies in Colombo.

The workshop was an eye-opening event for us as wells as for most of the participants.  We not only learned to “mentally photograph” the printed page and “read” as fast as you can turn the pages, but also learned about our human potential.

Mr Fernando, gave us convincing examples of the possibilities in the area of reading by showing video clips of children reading while blindfolded.

We hope one day in the near future, Mr Fernando will be able to teach these valuable skills to more of our students and we look forward to having him visit our village.
